Tell me again, why is this not on Radio 4?
She must regret having to go back to the whistling chimney. Are you sure you can't get yourself a wider audience somehow?
What fun, as always! The voices were terrific, and it's such a treat to hear a new episode ;). Wishing you a wonderful holiday weekend, too!
Something about this episode reminds me of 'Lewis' the TV spin-off from 'Inspector Morse.' I sometimes work on that show filmed in Oxford and some of the shots are done in rural areas (and in old, whistling houses:-)). I think it may have been the deep, serious voice of the Inspector when he said, 'And who exactly are you?'
Another really fantastic listen, everyone. My husband is watching the match and giving me these looks because I have my sound on. I'll have to come back to finish off to the end.
Great great fun as always!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wonderful writing Monique -and great work from the rest of the cast!!!!!!!!
I also think you should be on Radio 4 and have a wider audience-love to all of you!!!!!!!!!
This was absolutely great. And I'm with CJ and "an average patriot." You need your very own radio channel!
The pig reference was hilariously done.
C.J. I have not submitted. That's why. I'm really hesitant about submitting C.J., I have had so many rejections in the past when I tried to get something on TV and I have learned that one must be in that circle of producers, actors, directors and, foremost, live in London, otherwise no chance. And I don't. And, to be honest with you, I don't see why I should. I know my scripts are good, better that what I see on TV nowadays.
Jim, poor Sarah, kicked out of the pub. Knowing Sarah though, I think that she will kick up a stink.
As to a wider audience? As I said to C.J., I'm not ready to submit this Jim. But we are in the process of creating discs. Perhaps, for now, this might give us a wider audience. Also, Svetlana, who will make her first appearance in episode 50, already has given us a great following in Russia.
Hey Marilyn, good to see you and, yes, the cast puts on a terrific performance but when I listen to myself I cringe. As you probably know, we are now posting once every month. This gives us some breathing space in writing and recording.
Anne, we watch Lewis whenever we can and I must look out for you. I just saw the picture you posted on FB where the Doctor is looking at his mobile where you are standing as a zombie. I, of course, am green with envy.
Devin, thank you, you are most kind.
Rick, the same to you. I wish I had my own radio channel. That would make things so much easier.
Now, is anybody interested in cd's of MD? E-Mail David on david@davidcaddy.wanadoo.co.uk and we'll take it from there.
Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. A good ensemble piece. It works well when we all get together and contribute. Happy Easter to all our listeners.
Hey Jed, yes it is great fun working together like this. It is a bit of a squeeze to get us all in our tiny studio but it works indeed very well. Happy Easter to you.
Oh, before I forget I have been pretty creative over the last few days and there are some scripts for you to read. You know how much I appreciate your quirky input.
Monique you are a great writer! Very clever because you are Dutch aren't you?
Thanks for your visit!
The episodes get better each time Monique. It will be interesting to see how Sarah handles this.
I have been catching up slowly, and this episode is really fantastic..
Radio station owners don't know what they're missing out on..
(1) I take it he's got his daddy's legs.
(2) Joe seems to run amok on his own, without Jim keeping him in check.
(3) Thinking back to the early episodes, I got a chuckle over the change in organizational content between Barbara and Sarah. Sounds like karma's bouncing back and forth here.
Reader Wil, yes, I am Dutch, but I have lived in England for over thirty years, so it is more my language now than Dutch is, funny enough. Thank you for the compliment. I love writing scripts and one of my scripts is on another blog.
I am also curious as to how Sarah will handle this, Beach Bum. Knowing her, she wont let it go until she has found a solution and, possibly, an ally in her devious games.
Thank you both for visiting and commenting.
Hey Icy BC, great seeing you again. It's good to know that you have been catching up. This is so great about blogs. Posts stay and whenever you want to go back to an older post to enjoy what's there, you can. Thank you for commenting.
X.Dell, I take it that with (1) you mean Dod's legs. That is still a story that will be evolving. We have left it out so far because other characters have inadvertently taken over. But once it begins there will be some surprises. And Sarah will be heavily involved.
(2) Yes, Joe is indeed running amok. Poor Drake. Joe cannot let the Cassidy case go and he likes to rub people up the wrong way. But rest assured he will get his comeuppance in the next episode, so stay tuned.
(3) There has always been a little power struggle between Sarah and Barbara. Remember the bus route petition? Sarah thought she had done all the work involved but when they sat in Minton's waiting room it was revealed that Barbara had done her homework and, to Sarah's chagrin, had taken over. But will Sarah let Barbara run the show again? That will also be revealed soon. Remember, Sarah can be pretty devious.
Thank you for your loyal support X.Dell and for commenting.
Yes, Joe does tend to run amok without Jim. I think he is secretly enjoying the country life and finding his way.
Barbara and Sarah are always trying to outdo one another. Barbara likes to be the boss. Poor old Howard is a bit hen pecked! Sarah though will surely eventually reassert herself.
Stopping to say Hi, Monique. Will download and listen when I'm not buried.
I am sure that she will David, she wont let Barbara steal the show. But we will have to wait until another episode when we will find out what Sarah is up to.
Hi Tom, I'm off soon to visit you, as promised.
Very good.
'Like me pigs' made me smile.
I'm glad Joe's going to the 40's dance with Anna. They'll need him there. :)
Drake compares everything to his pigs, Fizz, stay tuned and you will find he does it more often in other episodes too.
BerbardL, you think there might be a riot or something at the 40's dance? Well you could be right of course, but right now I feel sorry for Drake who is certain that he will take Anna to the dance. There might be a fisticuff between Joe and Drake though.
I'm back, listening to this episode again..I miss that "stone me, and goodness gracious me" sentences..Just love it!
david has howard does a very good "Sorry, Dear!"
he must have a lot of practice .. ;)
Thanks Icy, I love them too, specially Drake's "Stone me" and Sarah's "Don't you agree?" and her "Don't you think so?" I also love the vibrating mobile phone of Jim.
He has Foam, in Middle Ditch, that is. In his real village he definitely is not as henpecked as there. Well, I don't think so anyway but to get the truth, I think you have to ask others.
'Tell me again, why is this not on Radio 4?'
It sounds radio quality.
Happy Weekend,
Russ
The answer is above, thekingpin. It has not changed. Thank you for your loyal support and a very happy weekend to you too.
You're scripts are good!
Thank you Monique! Love to make some visuals for that episode...
I would love to see some of your work on videoart.
Thanks Ruela, I'll be in touch although I have no idea how this will work but I am sure that you will keep me informed.
Did you received my email?
I did, Ruela, I will e-mail you back sometime today or tomorrow. I'm rather busy today and I think I know now what you mean. This is going to be delightful. Thank you.
Thanks for your visit to Anzac Day!
A very nice visit it was too, Reader Wil. Most enjoyable.
I understand rejection on a professional level all too well. You mustn’t let it bother you though. I am currently trying to get my books published and I am damned if I will let rejection get in the way, nor should you. You have 84 followers here and that should lend weight to your argument. Please sign-up as a follower to The Village Tales of Fekenham as I need all the support I can get. (No I do not need a truss!)
xx
Thanks CJ. The thing is, I'm not sure that I want to be dictated by producers. At the moment I have a totally free hand in being as creative as I want and having the episodes as short or as long as I want. Once submitted and, heaven forbid, accepted I might have to pan the shorter episodes (which I hate) or cut the longer ones. Exact timing is crucial on radio and TV. But I will think about it.
It is fantastic to have such wonderful listeners.
My favorite part is listening to the voice; it's such fun, and the whistling house is really interesting!
Thanks Icy, I only just saw your comment.
