Love it! I won't be asking for any of that ham! Wonder how those Roses are going to grow. Best one ever, case closed!

Charles Gramlich said...

well, we've dined on pig enough, I guess the should be allowed a bite of human.

the best part was about the "manure" then being delivered to the garden. lol. Definitely some black humor there.

Middle Ditch said...

Actually Jim, in an earlier episode, when Jim the detective came first on the case of the missing councillor, he ordered one of those legendary ham sandwiches. But alas he was called away before he could take a bite and Mrs Wood and Alan ate the sandwiches amongst cries of "Stone the crow" and "My goodness, what did you give this pig to eat then Drake?" Apparently they had tasted nothing ever as good as that ham.

Middle Ditch said...

Yes Charles, I agree. Enough of those pigs. Or is it? And is this case closed? Did Jim get it right?

We know too well that it was Drake, Mrs Wood, Barbara and Howard who were indirectly responsible for poor councillor Cassidy being eaten by the pigs.

Thank you both for commenting.

I enjoyed listening to this episode again!

Another fine cliffhanger. Isn't that Farmer Drake a great actor!

Ah, Minton and his escorts leaving a trail of lipsticks,
what fun!

Reader Wil said...

What a gripping story, Monique! It's a real crime story! Alexander Poe's books is nothing compared to your play!!!
Thanks for your visit and memories of the Netherlands you shared with me. Have a great rest of the Sunday.

Middle Ditch said...

Hey David, I too enjoyed listening again and yes, Drake is great.

Reader Wil, thank you for the compliment.

dabrah said...

Well, case closed. Excellent result.

Middle Ditch said...

Dabrah, hey, thanks for the visit.

Case closed?

Those few who have listened from episode one onwards will know that Jim has it hopelessly wrong.

But, Jim is going to have a sidekick soon and that young man from South London, named Joe, is going to be very suspicious about this quirky little village and its inhabitants.

Watch this space

I enjoyed this episode and am pleased that Drake can get back to his pigs.

Jim and Drake are surely old friends and it would never
occur to Jim that Drake would be involved in anything outside the law.

I wonder whether Drake will pursue Anna?

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Jed, you are quite right of course. Drake pursuing Anna? Well, he did fall for her once and they had a great time behind the cowshed, so who knows!

Excellent manure jokes.Didn't know pigs could digest teeth, either.
Very good.

Thanks for asking, mum is recovering well from her op and is being offered a session of chemo around the third of June. Then depending on her tolerance, there may be more sessions.Fingers crossed it goes well.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Fizz, I didn't know about the teeth either until a close friend told me, so I had to use it.

I'm really pleased everything is going well for your mum. I keep my fingers crossed for her.

Thanks for the visit and commenting. Always greatly appreciated.

I had a second of panic when I read the title, 'Case Closed', in case you'd decided to stop writing Middle Ditch!

The details you asked for are
Publisher No Exit Press
Distributor Turnaround
ISBN 97818 4243 2716

but the bookshop can just google Leigh Russell and easily find all the details they need. (If they tell you it's not available until July that means they're buying it from amazon. My publisher is getting books to the distributor early in June.)

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Leigh, thank you for the information. And as for ending MD? No way! Too many story lines still to solve.

I enjoy listening to this episode. Quite thrilling with the manure part being delivered!

Middle Ditch said...

BC Doan, it always surprises me when something strikes a chord. This time the manure.

Thanks for visiting and commenting. I never get enough of reading those.

Devin said...

I was like Leigh-I panicked for a second-thinking maybe MD was shutting down-hilarious as always-in fact this one I am going to come back to when I am feeling better-I agree with an average patriot, Charles Gramlich , and David Caddy and others-great stuff all the way around-best to all of you!!!

Middle Ditch said...

Don, you are too kind. I will have a look soon.

Devin, thanks for visiting. I hope that you feel better soon.

Thanks for commenting both of you. I'm glad that you are liking the episode.

At last! I can finally listen to this in peace. :-)

I thought the series was coming to a close but thankfully not. Still lots of fertile ground to cover.

wow this is so beautiful!!

You've got a test to take.

Middle Ditch said...

Indeed Ricardo. Plenty to do still.

Thanks school for the girls. Nice to see that you are following the story.

Heff, I'm not sure what you mean but I shall hop over to you soon to see what's there.

Thank you all for visiting and commenting.

Alfie and the fish eyes investigation was very entertaining. With the notes taken, I’m fascinated with Jim’s Sherlock Holmes conclusions. Case closed. :)

Middle Ditch said...

Hi BernardL, Jim's Sherlock Holmes conclusion eh?

Well we see.

Thanks for the visit.

Janice Thomson said...

Case closed? Pfft! Jim needs to investigate a whole lot deeper...but I'm sure something will happen soon :) Love these episodes.
Having been raised on a farm I was surprised to read pigs eat teeth and nails...la-de-lah - the things you learn in blogosphere! LOL

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Janice, The truth, as they say, will come out one day and with Joe, the very suspicious new sidekick of Jim, things might take a turn.

As for pigs! Well I have been told they eat and digest anything, so having eaten poor Councillor Cassidy, bones, teeth, nails and all, this bound to have happened as there is no sign of him on the farm and poor dead Alfie is now the culprit or so Jim thinks.

Thanks for commenting Janice, I always love to read them.

I sent you guys an email. Let me know how you'd like to get this going. It would be a pleasure.

Middle Ditch said...

Thanks Ricardo, we stay in touch. I'm already scheming something for you to do.

Reader Wil said...

Hi Monique, I can understand that you are angry with those people in parliament , who cheated everybody.
But we need Europe especially in this financial crisis. I am glad we have the euro now otherwise our banks would have lost much more. Thanks for your visit.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Reader Wil, that's another thing we still don't have here. The Euro.

Lovely to se you here.

Richard said...

Thank You... Well, when I see Your blog name, i always see some images of "Murders of Midsomer Valley". I mean my mind does that association...i guess is due to the avatar, hehe.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Richard, thanks for the compliment and thanks for visiting.

Anne Lyken-Garner said...

Monique, is this closed now? Sorry I've been ill, then busy, then the kids were off school for 10 days, then my husband got gastroenteritis (sounds like a hot story line for Middle ditch) so I had not time to come by.

I can't hear anything, but maybe it's my system.

Anne

Middle Ditch said...

My Anne, you have been through it. This all sounds pretty nasty and I hope that your husband and your children are okay now.

I'm sorry that you could not hear this episode and I hope that you will come back to try and listen as the story is far from over.

Thanks for visiting Anne. I know what it's like feeling under the weather and being busy. Take care.

ANNA-LYS said...

Demeter, welcome to Middle Ditch, quirky tales of village life. It's good to see you.

darkfoam said...

hey there ..
saw on fb that you had updated ..
and just as soon as i find a quiet moment i'm gonna listen to this new episode..
it's been hectic lately ..
you know ... the end of the school year, grading, my son's graduation ..

darkfoam said...

huh .. dna in pig poop .. who would have thought?
and the plot thickens ..
who will we be introduced to next?

ivan said...

I couldn't hear it all, but it seemed to me better than tne Midommer Murders.

...I just had a drink and a soiree with a local farmer.

He said to me, "I haven't had so much fun since the pigs ate my brother." :)

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Foam, you've beaten me to answering your first post, knowing how busy a time it is and lo and behold here you are already again. Congratulations on your son's graduation. Always a very good time for a proud parent.

As for DNA in pig dung? Oh well, you find that everywhere nowadays. I'm fascinated by DNA and how the police can catch (rightly? wrongly?) someone years and years after having committed a crime due to DNA.

Who we will be introduced to next? Wait and see (hear).

Thanks for the visit, always very much appreciated.

Middle Ditch said...

Ivan!!! Long time no see! Great to see you!

I roared with laughter at what the farmer said. And thanks for the compliment! This is the second time MD is compared to Midsummer Murders.

You can't get a greater compliment.

Thanks for the visit Ivan. I will visit you again soon.

Middle Ditch said...

Foam, by the way, are you a member of the Middle Ditch Group on Facebook?

Anonymous said...

yup, that's exactly what i mean, but that means that by you putting on that hat it isn't your usual behaviour, and if the situation a common or 'normal'one wouldn't need a hat!!!!!

you make perfect sense

Middle Ditch said...

Thanks Aretha, that was a impressive quick response.

Anonymous said...

Yes i sure will, i look forward to catching up with your blog posts!

Middle Ditch said...

I'll stay in touch Aretha and I hope that you enjoy this story set in a very small Dorset village.

Dine on swine: also not really my favorite thing...

Middle Ditch said...

Aretha, I hope that you enjoy the story.

Sarah, thanks for visiting.

X. Dell said...

Since episode two, I've wondered how you'd get them all out of Cassidy's murder. Now I know.

Plenty of other stories afoot in the town of Middle Ditch, though, including this one should you so choose. I could actually see Cassidy's death casting quite a hold over everyone....Especially since Mrs. Wood is an eyewitness. Even if the cops put the case down, she might not.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi X, good to see you.

Yeah, Jim closed the case thinking he found the culprit and you are right, of course, Mrs Wood is still around. Or is she?

At this moment she is back up north recovering from her memory loss (again) and we are not sure as to when (if) she will be back.

Meanwhile there are still plenty of loose ends to wind up and we are also going to meet Jim's sidekick Joe, acted by the excellent Ian Brinton, who is intrigued by this little village in the middle of the sticks.

It seems that the case is not quite closed yet.

Thanks for visiting, listening and commenting.
