Hi you've worked hard again to make this new episode! Randy was obviously still having side effects of his night out. Or am I mistaken??

A fantastically imaginative episode! Well done all.

Hi Guys
It must be me but it keeps saying undefined and I can't get it to play so I will come back later!

Will be back to listen; and catch up! Haven't been much on my blog, or any other.

A thoroughly enjoyable episode with good pace and sound effects. Well done!

Very funny from the groaning hangover start to the Admiral's P.R. video. I wouldn't mind seeing the buggery and lashings myself ... just out of curiosity. Lol!
"Permission to have a good idea Sir?" Too funny!

I am unable to post a comment as I keep hearing a sexy voice say "come to me" brb ;)

Love the sound effects.

Nessa said...

Great sound effects.

Love where it said you don't have to look.

BC Doan said...

I'm impressed with the sound effect also..another great episode!

I loved the idea of a play within a play. That's intriguing. Again, I'm really impressed by the sound effects. Did you go to the seaside to get the birds, or did you capture some of them and bring them home? :-)
Who's ever heard of a canvassing bishop? Ha!

what a fun episode. middle ditch takes to the high seas, dreamily speaking. thongs for the memories, love it!

Middle Ditch said...

Hi everybody, first an apology for replying so late. This was due to computer problems, which now have been sorted.

Reader Wil, you are quite right. His night at the reunion didn't go well and he has a nightmare about it and you know what dreams are like, skipping from one thing to the next.

Michelle thank you for the compliment. It was hard work for Helen and David searching for, and then adding the right sound effects.

Middle Ditch said...

Jim and tut-tut I am eagerly awaiting your return and your comments.

Thanks Jed, this is a lovely compliment.

Aggie, good ideas are always welcome. Glad you enjoyed this one.

Middle Ditch said...

SJ, you are joking, aren't you? As always? Me having a sexy voice? Surely not.

Oh yes Foam, the Bishop likes that too. Pill popper as he is. We will hear from him soon again.

Middle Ditch said...

Charles, Nessa and BC Doan, this was a particular difficult episode to edit. Firstly Brian suddenly could not be here during the recording session and we recorded the episode without him. Later his voice was added on a second track. Then his voice was added on the master track, which took quite some doing, then all the mistakes were edited out and sound effects added. Helen and David did a very fine precision job.

Middle Ditch said...

Anne, thanks for listening. We have loads of sound effects on the computer and Helen and David choose from there the appropriate sounds.

Ben, we aim to please. Thanks for listening and commenting. Much appreciated everyone.

Thank you all for listening and commenting. This episode was a joy to write and produce with Helen.
We greatly enjoyed working on the sound effects and ended up using five tracks. The seagulls come from the sea and outside our house as I forgot to close the window! Helen and I had the idea for the script and I recalled an Oxford College reunion. I like the idea of a play within a play or a dream within a dream as in this case. I think that the Middle Ditch Players will make another appearance. They probably put on an annual show. Any suggestions as to what they might perform next?

Hi Reader Wil,

Minton was so hungover that he couldn't remember the night before at his Oxford College reunion. His dream gathers material from his experiences and re-works them into the Middle Ditch Players production of the hit radio show The Navy Lark, which ran on BBC Radio Four from 1959 -1977.

You know, with all this cold medication I'm on and th drowsy effects it has, that dream music with the peculiar sounds feels right at home. The sound was very well done.

"Come to me." LOL! Monique you are such a siren.

Middle Ditch said...

LOL Ricardo ...... A very ancient siren ...... Thanks for visiting and get better soon.

BernardL said...

Very well done, and the groaning was superb. :)

Janice Thomson said...

A lot of work on this one with all the neat sound effects. Great job of mixing. Poor Randy sure gets himself in trouble - that's quite the moaning LOL. Loved that "come to me" - great addition!

Devin said...

I so agree with Michelle and others -beautifully done!! sorry it took so long for me to get over here and listen-been having net connection probs again-best to all of you as always!!

S E E Quine said...

Weirdest one I've heard! Good job!

Marilyn Brant said...

Ha! As always, I enjoyed it tremendously. Love what you do :).

Middle Ditch said...

Brian likes his groans and screams BernardL. In one episode he screamed so loud that the cat, who was asleep on the window sill, began to run around the office trying to find a way out, missing the open door totally. Rowena was quite concerned about that poor cat afterwards.

Yes Janice, a lot of work was done on this episode. Helen and David did a superb job. And I quite liked to keep saying "Come to me", it was fun.

Middle Ditch said...

Thanks Devin, computers are wonderful until they go wrong. Mine, the one with all the MD episodes, is playing up as well and soon will need to be replaced.

SEE Quine, David is thinking of another episode with loads of sound effects. So keep listening.

Marilyn, thanks for the compliment. It's great to see you here again.

Everybody, thanks for commenting. It means a lot to me.

Randy's groans sure woke me up at the start. Attention-getter that one!
You do a great job on these.

Thanks for your visit! Thanks also for joining the Earth Hour. Norway is very beautiful, New Zealand looks a bit like Norway, but its population has not lived as long there as the Norwegians in their country.

Middle Ditch said...

Brian is a great, albeit erratic, performer Goatman. He is hilarious to work with. Thanks for visiting.

Reader Wil, thank you for visiting again.

tut-tut said...

Finally back; glad you jogged me! Quite a dream. Love all the undergraduate references. And great sound effects!!

Middle Ditch said...

Hi tut-tut,

Quite a dream indeed. Goodness knows what Minton and his associates got up too. Re-living their student days perhaps? No wonder the sound effects are so wonky!

fizzycat said...

Wow what a wild episode. Fantastic sound effects my favorite the one with the spring at the end. 'Come to me' 'thongs for the memory', priceless.

That, thekingpin68, is the old school house in my village. I like it too, very much. It's just such a shame that the school closed. Thanks for visiting

Helene (the Artist Formerly Known as Kate) said...

That was great. I particularly liked the sound effects in it. Is this a hobby for you guys or do you do this sort of thing for a living too? Just wondering as I can imagine all the time it takes!

Hey, I will be in your neck of the woods this weekend! Well probably not close, but in London none the less!=] I will toast you when I am there! =]

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Helene, it's a hobby and yes it does take a lot of time. But we all really enjoy it. Specially the recording sessions when we are having a lot of fun.

London eh? I believe that this Sunday is the day of the London Marathon so who knows, I might catch a glimpse of you on TV. Would that not be fun too?

Thanks for visiting and commenting. I always love to read those.

What a creative approach to bloggin! I was a radio series lover from age 4 on.. Your blog feels a bit like coming home with my then proverbial glass of cold sweet tea!!( Well I have switched to unsweet now)

Thanks for letting me know you are in blog land! I am sending a note about you to DB who I hope will visit if he has not yet done so.

Thanks also for stopping by and signing up with the program at Psyche Connections. I shall do likewise. Again good stuff.

Thanks for your visit! I was no fan of tulips either but there so many different tulips in all kind of colours, shapes and sizes, that I have begun to appreciate them more and more. Now I like them!

Middle Ditch said...

Wil, I must be looking out for those. They would fit nicely in my garden.

X. Dell said...

I'll refrain from making any off-color jokes about your bit role, Monique, but you have to admit that the line "come to me" is quite tempting.

The disjunct nature of the episode really seems dreamlike.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi X. Dell, it's good to see you. This episode was fun, hard work putting on the sound effects, but fun and that's what counts most in my view.

Thanks for commenting.
