Wonderful Monique!
Very entertaining! I must admit this has become my entertainment. I have never sat and listened to a story before. I feel like I am listening to a radio. I like this, good job!

Middle Ditch said...

Thanks Jim. My aim is to please and I'm just about succeeding, I think.

I do remember radio plays and I did enjoy listening to them as a child. But then TV came and that was more or less the end of that. So now I enjoy writing for radio.

Reader Wil said...

That's great Monoque! Yes I remember the radio plays in the past too. Probably the same plays you listened too." Paul Vlaanderen"," Buffalo Bill", "In Holland staat een Huis". You did live in Holland when you were a child, didn't you?

Middle Ditch said...

Reader wil, I remember Paul Vlaanderen and In Holland staat een huis. Oh what memories that brings back!!

Thank you for this moment. Wonderful.

Middle Ditch said...

Oh and thank you for visiting and you too Jim. Where are my manners?

David Caddy said...

This episode brought a smile or two to me.

That shifty character Howard and Barbara who seems to be a Captain Mainwaring in the making. Not forgetting Minton and his zipper. Whatever next, I wonder?

I can't wait to find out!

Middle Ditch said...

Ah well David, you will have to wait three whole weeks. And I too, because, right now, I have quite forgotten what episode 22 might bring us.

Charles Gramlich said...

definitely some horrific elements here. Good for the season. And a good illustration of black humor.

Middle Ditch said...

Thank you Charles. And you David for visiting. My manners are pretty bad at the moment.

As entertaining as ever Monique. I'm enjoying Middleditch with it's lovely accents and typically British humour.

jmsjoin said...

Take credit you do very well and you should see about getting this wider heard!

fizzycat said...

Marvelous as ever. Thanks for comment on the blog.

Engaging... mistress of suspense, md!

Janice Thomson said...

Interest has definitely stepped up even another notch - one can only imagine what the possible outcome will be. This is starting to be a nail-biter Monique - love it!

Middle Ditch said...

Aggie, thank you for listening

Patriot, I'm always looking for a wider audience. Unfortunately, it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Fiz, I know how much you enjoy this. Thanks for the visit.

Middle Ditch said...

Julie, indeed.

Janice, Mrs Wood has dobbed in Howard, Drake and Barbara about the disappearance of councillor Cassidy. What will happen next? Will Jim find out who's done it?
Is there any evidence on Drake's farm? More to come in three weeks time.

Such a wicked, wicked direction you're going with this, Monique. Superb espisode!

jmsjoin said...

I don't know Monique! I think in todays environment there is a place for something like this. It is soothing to just sit listen and imagine. I like it!

KB said...

I'm enjoying this more than ever. Keep up the good work!

Well, I'm looking forward to the next few episodes, when the spit hits the fan. I like the fact that things are beginning to tie together between the affair and Cassidy's death/disappearance.

Hello Monique. Great episode. Can't wait to hear the next one!
Take care and have a great week.

Joy Leftow said...

This could bring back a whole new era. I remember as a child we had no TV and we'd gather around our radio which was just about as big to listen to stories.
This brings that time back for me.
Thanks

Joy Leftow said...

Oh & special congrats to Monique for her unique writing skills specially adapted to this mode.
The whole crew is great!

Middle Ditch said...

Rick, Thank you for the compliment and thank you for listening.

Jim, it is soothing, I have to agree. Thank you.

KB, I will try my utmost to keep this up. It's a promise.

Middle Ditch said...

X Dell, there is a lot more to come and there is a lot more going to happen before this is tied up. Thanks for the visit.

Lisa, thank you. I'll be seeing you soon again.

Joy, it's great to see you here and I'm glad that you enjoy this. I shall pass your message on to the cast when we next meet and thank you for your compliment.

Let me just say that while I too can have a selective memory on some things (not as terrible as a murder or anything) I'd rather feed these troubles to the pigs.

The secrets are beginning to expose themselves. People are getting sloppy, and the terrible truth will reveal itself turning middle ditch upside down.

Middle Ditch said...

Ricardo, Jim is slow and methodical and with Mrs Wood's help he might just find out what happened. As long as Mrs Wood keeps her memory in tact, that is. Let's just hope that she doesn't encounter Mr Minton MP with his zipper open.

darkfoam said...

pigs will eat anything ..
ugh .. lol ..
anyways, let's hope that mrs wood's memory stays intact indeed..
how much longer do i have to wait for that next episode now?

Rick said...

Here, here! How long for the next episode!

Chris Benjamin said...

the brotherly brawl reminds me of that elvis costello song: "accidents will happen, it's only hit and run."

Middle Ditch said...

Foam, pigs will indeed and it will be two weeks before the next episode is put online.

Patience Rick, two weeks to go. I simply can't post more often. Getting everybody together can, at times prove difficult. Nine more episodes are recorded and when we will do another recording session is anybody's guess for now.

Benji, I know the song. How right you are.

PBS said...

Very cool! I love it. No wonder your children turned out to love reading and now work with children!

Middle Ditch said...

Pbs, thanks for the visit.

Anne Lyken-Garner said...

Monique, as I said before, this belongs on radio 4. It's got everything people enjoy, and is a lot better than the story lines I hear about in the popular soaps (I never watch any of them).

With its disappearing acts, family titbits, brawls, and zippers, it brought me a great many chuckles.

Apart from this, the voices are great and the actors know their parts well.

Well done.

Anne

Monique said...

Anne, thank you. I will try, eventually, to get this on radio, but for now I have not written enough episodes.

I expect that a radio station would like to broadcast at least one episode a day, which means doing a hell of a lot of writing.

lizzie said...

Im haven't listened to a story before, so this is a novelty for me. I must admit I enjoyed it. I am a TEFL teacher so I am encouraging my students to come and listen to the story.

Middle Ditch said...

Lizzie, thank you for visiting. It's really nice to meet you and great that your students are listening to this story.

Donnetta said...

Love so much to hear your beautiful voice. So much more cultured sounding than our Okie country accents. Easy listening. I'm smiling. And now what! D

Middle Ditch said...

Donnetta, I love to hear the Australian voices. I have missed you here. Thanks for the comment. What next? Well, keep listening.

Ruela said...

Wonderful, another great episode!

Monique said...

Thank you Ruela, I'm glad that you are enjoying this.

landsker said...

Hi Monique,
Have listened to a little, and lovely it is too, takes me back to the 50`s, and the radio plays an` tales... I`ll have to listen more..

Monique said...

Landsker, welcome to Middle Ditch, quirky tales of village life. I'm glad that you enjoy the story.

David Caddy said...

It's good to welcome new listeners and always a joy to read the comments of regular listeners.

Maria said...

Monique, I especially enjoyed this episode, well done! :)

Monique said...

I can't agree with you more David.

Maria, thank you so much for listening. I'm glad that you are enjoying this.

Leigh Russell said...

Listening can beat watching TV - especially with all the rubbish that's churned out. What is impressive, is how you manage to maintain your entertainment value. I'm sure we'll be hearing MD on the radio before long.

Monique said...

Hi Leigh, I was just about to go to yours.

As I explained to Anne, this radio thing will be some time before I even try.

First of all we will have to improve the quality of the first few episodes when we made our own sound effects and did not do (or very little) editing. Then I have to write many more episodes. I'm just very happy that people enjoy it. For now that's more than enough for me.

Reader Wil said...

Hi Monique! Thanks for your visit! No Halloween is not really a Dutch event. We wait for Sinterklaas. Even my daughter in Australia celebrates St.Nicolas Eve.

Monique said...

Reader wil, I do miss Sinterklaas. I really had no idea that Australia also celebrates St Nicolas. What a small world.

Chris Benjamin said...

Costello has a gift for stating what takes most of us a thousand words in just a few. like this:

"[God] said, before it had really begun, 'I prefer the one about my son. I've been wading through all this unbelievable junk and wondering if I should have given the world to the monkeys.'"

Middle Ditch said...

Amen to that Benji. Thanks for the visit.

darkfoam said...

oh, dwats ..!
i guess 2 weeks is not over yet ...

Middle Ditch said...

One week to go foam and the next one will be online. Thanks for visiting

jed said...

Ah the female culture of gossiping!

I particularly like it that, when one woman disappears into the kitchen, the other two begin to talk about her.

This is very well done. I enjoyed listening to this episode.

Monique said...

Hey Jed, how great to see you here. You should come more often.

Thanks for the compliment.

Elena Horowitz-Brookes said...

Another really entertaining episode Monique!
I'm so glad I finally made it over here. I love the
humor mixed with all the drama. I'll now look
forward to the next!

Middle Ditch said...

Elena, you were sorely missed here. I'm pleased that you could make it.

fizzycat said...

Just great. The sooner it is on the radio, the better.

Middle Ditch said...

Fizz, thanks. Radio has to wait just a little bit longer.

Devin said...

I have been so impressed with all of you! In all probabilty I will be back tomorrow to finish and then restart here and there-I really have adored these-the 'alcoholic' one was very funny-it seems that in 'real life' whatever that is I have heard folks say some things that I think of when I listen in-I also love listening in because it reminds me of my two visits to the UK! The only thing I do not like about the UK is those damn Windsors-of course they are proabably nothing as near as bad as what we have here-I love the idea of a monarchy there-but do not like the people playing the parts so to speak-hope this comment did not offend. On my second visit a very kind London cab driver turned off his meter and took me on about another 45 mins to an hour sightseeing-I thought this was so kind as he had a wife and a small child-I do not know what cabbies there make but it can't be a lot-I could not imagine a cab driver here doing the same! best to all of you and thanks so much for stopping by!

Middle Ditch said...

Devin, I'm not a great fan of the Windsors either, but then I am not British.

That cab driver was indeed very friendly. I have not heard of this before and thank you for stopping by.
