Hi Monique I enjoyed this. It was like I was there. Would love to hear the rest. That lady's story was a bit crooked. A whole team of burglars being organisaed and also knowing te exact location of 25 pounds. Would love to hear the rest.
Doesn't her savings stink? LOL Enjoyed this Monique - a good story with all the twists and turns to keep the listener intrigued.
I enjoyed this episode. It is always good to sit back and follow the continuing story.
I enjoyed this, too. I like the quick back and forth of the dialogue. Great job!
Hi all, thank you. This actually happened for real last year to an old lady living in my street. It was too good of a story to let go.
Her perfect memory is muddled. I thought that made her a bit of an unreliable narrator, which often adds to the humor in such scenarios. Well done.
Thank you Charles.
Thanks for the heads up at my place, Monique. Even when I don't have time, I hate to miss one of these, so I make the time. :-)
Thanks for making the time Tom.
Well done monique, another good episode. Keep them coming.
:)
Some of the best stories are often based on real events, keep up the good work.
Hi kb,
It certainly gives an element of authenticity to the drama.
Thank you Akasha, I certainly will.
Hi KB, I'll visit you soon again.
Nice to see you here again David.
Love that she keeps her real savings in the rubbish bin. Nicely done.
I enjoyed this as well. How neat to be able to hear the episode. Hearing it brings it to life in a way that reading it does not.
Hello, Monique. Our elderly next-door neighbors used to keep thousand dollar bills between the pages of old Time Magazines in their hallway. They proudly told my mother this, claiming that no banks would ever rip them off. My mother could have cleaned them right out...
I'll try and catch up on what is happening!
I had a relative who liked to keep 100 pounds in her easychair, its amazing where cash gets hidden.Close family knew , thankfully noone else did.
` Them pesky burglars! I'll have to listen again when there's less noise.
this was quite amusing... enjoyed it, thank you.
old ladies appear to be such easy prey but looks can be deceiving...
` Lol @ 'My week's drinking allowance!'
My maternal grandfather refused to have a bank account towards the end of his life and kept all of his money under a mattress!
How do you come up with ideas for your writing? Story. Characters. And so on. Any useful tips?
Most of my ideas for characters and story lines come from observing village life. Some people through their voice and mannerisms stand out. Listening to the stories that circulate through the village also helps. Some of our story lines are broadly based on real events. We can exaggerate or minimise the actual stories. Of course, we may only hear part of a story. Others may see things differently.
My useful tip is to listen to your local stories.
Britta, my mother, bless her, used to do just that.
Thanks for visiting Zirelda, I will see you soon.
Hi Mary, it's surprising how many elderly people mistrust banks, isn't it?
Hey Fizz, i'll be seeing you soon too.
Thanks for listening s e e quine.
Oh yes, Polona, the old lady this story is based on has been a target several times.
Eamon, David gave you the answer, thank you David
I can't speak dutch thought, so that will be hard! :D
how are everything with you?
Hi Monique. You've been tagged! Visit my blog for more details!! :D
Hi Erik, lovely to see you here.
Akasha, I can't do it here but I'll try it on my other blog. Lovely though.
Dear Monique,
I loved this tale of the burglar, or not as the case might be. I think I would find it extremely difficult to be a reliable witness to a crime, especially if it meant constructing one of those photo fits. I would be hopeless! I was trying to find the flesh eating pigs! What episode is that?
David.
Hi David,
The pigs are in episode two, which is now under Older posts. Scroll down and click on Older Posts for all the early episodes.
Best, David
Monique, I haven't been able to blog lately, but haven't forgotten about the new Middle Ditch post. I'll be back soon to enjoy your newest installment. Looking forward to it!
I enjoyed this one ... esp the tone of the Police Officer hoping for some useful details in among the muddle ... like the reg #.
Elena! So good to see you.
Aggie, so pleased you liked it
Hi Monique,
Your writing always keeps us on our toes with its pace and strength.
Glad you liked my Sky Watch photos.
I need to listen this one :)
I enjoyed listening to this episode again!
Hi Monique
Very topical episode. There are so many of these distraction burglaries around here too. And those flesh eating pigs have come back to haunt them all! Will the truth come out in the end?
I admire Your enthusiasm, I can see that You have had a broadcast every month.
(( hug ))
Hi all, thank you or the comments and yes Dabrah, the flesh eating pig saga continues. Jim is on the trail and he is someone who doesn't let go easy. Friends or no friends, justice will prevail.
It's been a while for me -- sorry. I enjoyed the work, though! :)
Hi Andrew, it's good to see you again. You were missed
Sorry to hear of your colleague's passing. Thinking of you all ... I know how hard it will seem to continue, but I'm sure that it will be a real tribute to him and what he would have liked.
Take care all of you.
Thank you Aggie. It is greatly appreciated.
Thank you Aggie.
I am sure that Paul would want us to continue.
Thank you Aggie.
We will be continuing with more episodes soon.
Good to see you here Jed.

foam
Now that I'm all caught up with the episodes, I have to say that I'm enjoying the hell out of this series. The pacing is exquisite--you've managed to develop the characters nicely through subplots, and the main plot is just so godawful funny. Well done.
Thanks for dropping by and letting me know of this. I'll be back to hear next month's episode.
Welcome to Middle Ditch .........., I hope that you enjoy the flesh eating pigs.
Thank you for the compliment x. dell. See you in the next episode.
Listening to this chapter fits well with the recent upheval in your country and mine. "I don't use banks, they rob you blind."
If he is a good cop he has to know something is amiss. Barbara's evasiveness comes through loud and clear here.
Mrmacrum, banks do rob you, don't they? Ah and our Jim is a little slow on the uptake but will get there in the end. And Barbara? Well guilty like hell of course.
Just cant say how happy I am to have found Middle Ditch!
Devin, you have no idea how pleased I am that you are enjoying the show.
Doesn't her savings stink? LOL Enjoyed this Monique - a good story with all the twists and turns to keep the listener intrigued.
