The plot thickens! Good use of the sewing machine sound effect. I enjoyed this episode.

Thank you David.

So that's what that sound effect was. I wasn't sure. I liked the "I'm all ears unless it has to do with the bedroom."

Monique said...

Hi Charles, as Farmer Drake would say, Stone Me! Of all the sound effects in the world, this one was not recognizable.

With every sound effect have been walking around the house trying this and that, and the only time I used the real thing? Stone The Crows!

I am trying to find the right sound effect for a car crashing in the back of another one. Any ideas?

Lol! Weird indeed ... esp if a man starts getting romantic.
Perhaps she should take his temperature ... hehehe!

thanks for dropping by my blog.
i suppose i should start listening to the story from the beginning, eh!
sounds interesting, though. thank you for letting me know about this :)

Monique said...

Ah Aggie, Alan is following Howard and John's advice to the book, but Sarah doesn't know this. There is more to come.

Polona, welcome to Middle Ditch, quirky tales of village life.

Dear Monique,
Plenty of neck kissing and hands on! Sounds great, what is the lady so worried about!
Good one Monique.
David.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi David, she is worried because it's not like him at all.

Elena Horowitz-Brookes said...

Monique, I enjoyed this thoroughly!!! The acting sounds so natural and I love the humor and a little mystery around the bedroom issue. I'll anxiously await the next installment.
Thank you!

So true to life with the topics of conversation like the computer.
Liked the old sewing machine in the background as well - touches like that make it more real.

Middle Ditch said...

Hi Elena, the next installment will be towards the end of the month. In a few weeks time we also do some more recordings.

Thanks Julie, I'm glad that you recognized the sewing machine sound. I guess it takes a woman to do that.

fizzycat said...

Superb use of the sewing machine to add suspense. Love it. Alan getting hands on , well I hope Sarah finds out soon about his given advice . Very entertaining.

Monique said...

Hi Fizz, isn't it strange that a woman knows straight away that the noise is a sewing machine.

Thank you for that lovely compliment.

Hi Monique,
These were fantastic! They took me back to my youth when there was no TV
and I would listen to programs like these on CBC radio late at night.
This is a unique use of a blog - can't wait to hear more.

Middle Ditch said...

Ex-shammickite, thank you for visiting. I will visit you soon.

Janice, I'm glad that you like it and that it brought back memories. I will stay in touch.

Hi Monique

I downloaded 11 and 12, finally it works, only have to put them on my mp3 player.
Thank you for your visits and have a nice week (end)

Hi Monique!
It's nice to see that you are checking in on my blog once in a while, even though you can't read what I'm writing, that's called spirit, i've heard! :)
You should learn the swedish language, it's quite interesting and we have a couple of very good bloggers in our small country. :P
By the way, did you notice that I wrote a post in english, just for you, even though I'm calling you he/she in that blog? :)
I had, in that time, not noticed who was behind the Middle Ditch-blog, and it's quite a neutral name :)

So enjoy the reading, and who knows, maybee I'll write in english some more time the nearest future, just for you :)

Surely I will read your script of the television-series at your own blog and listen to Middle Ditch when I have time, I'm in a lot of work right now.
Maybee we should link to each other on our blogs to?

Bye Monique, and greetings from your friend Erik in Sweden!

Hello Monique,
I am trying to keep a little distance due to Your saying that You have to many blogs, Facebook and commentators. But, I am thinking of You a lot, and hope You are not getting burned out on blogging, of the cost of Your creative work with the broadcastings.

(( hugs ))

Middle Ditch said...

Akasha, thank you.

Eamon, thanks for listening and yes, this is broadcast in France.

Erik, lovely to see you here. I will visit you shortly.

Leigh! Long time no see. Glad to see you again.

Anna-Lys, you should know that it's always a pleasure to see you and I'm never too busy to visit you.

I have to appologize to each of my friends for not being here for a while. We had computer, internet connection and router problems, but this is sorted and I'm glad to be back on line.

TomCat said...

Very well done, as always!

The reason that this is so original is your attention to minute, though terribly simple details (sewing machine). I wouldn't have thought of that at all.

The BBC used to have LPs (this is in the days of records and record players) of all kinds of sound effects. I remember using one for a story we did on radio once, but this was a long time ago. Maybe you could contact them and see if they've got cds of sound effects. I'm sure I used one of a car crashing once.

Monique said...

Thank you Tom, I hope that you are feeling better.

Anne, thank you for the compliment and as for sound effects, I do prefer to make my own but Helen (Sarah in MD) gave me a wonderful CD full of effects recently. One of them is indeed a car crashing and we will use that. Thanks for the advise though.

fizzycat said...

Thanks for comment. Yes the troublemaker hopefully has gone. Sorry about your Quince losing it's flowers. Its not a fruit I know much about I believe you can make a jelly from it.

Monique said...

Hey Fizz, quince also makes excellent wine.

Dick said...

Ha, Monique

I listen part 11-12. The sound effect was more like a Sewing machine.

Middle Ditch said...

Hey Dick! It is!

Middle Ditch said...

A sewing machine, I mean

Ed Mahony said...

Where does recording take place. Is it fun doing. Would be interesting to hear a bit about the production if you have the time.

Middle Ditch said...

Eamon, yes it is fun to do. We recorded four episodes yesterday and welcomed two new cast members.

The recordings takes place at our humble home on garage band. So far 25 episodes have been written, 12 are on line and 17 are recorded. We use a selection of home made and prerecorded sound effects. We do a quick rehearsal and off we go to record the episode.

I write the continuing story lines and DC (my husband) throws in some one-offs in between. There is no real production team. We all work together as a team and after recordings go out for a meal to discuss future story lines.

We do edit, there are always minor mistakes. Helen, who plays Sarah, is brilliant with much patience to minute details.

Thanks for listening

I feel sorry for you.
Going back to work.
It hurts.

Monique said...

Thank you Eric, it's really nice to receive sympathy.

dabrah said...

Good sound effect - I didn't get that it was a sewing machine. I had to giggle over the bedroom confidences (or not).

Monique said...

Thanks Dabrah, for listening (and giggling).

I knew it was a sewing machine...cool

TomCat said...

Monique, there's a surprise for you at PP: today's 2nd post.

Middle Ditch said...

Thank you Ruela for that lovely smile.

You are one of the few who recognized that sound Kb.
I still think it takes a woman to do that.

Tom!!! I am so honoured! How nice of you to think of me! Thank you for that wonderful award!

TomCat said...

You're most welcome, luv. Now you get to post it and pass it on to ten more. :-)

Well I'm glad I did not take the kissing on the neck advice. Men are men and we are always looking, it's terrible and can't be controlled. At least that is my case :-)

Monique said...

Ah Ricardo, Alan is following the advice to the book. But Sarah doesn't know this and she finds his behaviour very strange.

The hens seem confused with the romance plot. But they are suspicious. As david says, the plot thickens.

Indeed Mrmacrum, thanks for commenting
